PRESS RELEASE - Pick Up Truck Thefts - OPP Advise for Owners

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) - The Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to advise the public that there are recent thefts of pickup trucks that are occurring in the area. 

 Currently, the Elgin Middlesex OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) is investigating a number of pickup truck thefts from the areas of Central Elgin, Southwold, and Dutton.

 Police are asking that owners of Chevrolet Silverados, Chevrolet Avalanches, and GMC Sierras take extra safeguards for their vehicles. This can included, but is not limited to:

  • Putting the vehicle in the garage
  • Parking another vehicle in front of it during the evening
  • Ensure anti-theft devices are activated
  • Locking the vehicle and securing the keys

 Police are actively investigating the current thefts of pickup trucks in the area. Please report any suspicious vehicles or people to police by calling 1-888-310-1122

 If anyone has further information regarding the recent pickup truck thefts they are being asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.
