COVID-19 Information

Elgin County Declaration of State of Emergency

In March of 2020, Elgin County Warden, the Mayors from all of Elgin’s Local Municipal Partners, and the City of St. Thomas, each declared a local State of Emergency in their municipalities as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic developments in our region.  Municipalities are working together to protect the health and well-being of our residents. Our collective priorities are: the health, safety and well-being of the public and our employees; and maintaining essential services that our residents rely on.

Declaring an emergency affords our municipalities opportunities to further protect the health and safety of all individuals, families and businesses as well as the vulnerable populations that we serve.

The declaration also supports Public Health recommendations that reinforce the importance of acting now to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
