West Elgin Community Health Centre (WECHC)

The West Elgin Community Health Centre (WECHC) provides health and social services that are accountable, accessible, efficient, and governed by the community and are a part of a strong network of community health centres (CHCs) across Ontario committed to building healthy communities.

WECHC interdisciplinary team provides primary health care, a range of community programs, illness prevention services, and health promotion services primarily to the residents of Dutton Dunwich and West Elgin municipalities. Diabetes services are open to anyone, regardless of where you live, and offered at multiple locations in Elgin County.

WECHC believe that housing, education, food and the environment all play a role in health and well-being, and also believe that language, literacy and poverty should not get in the way of receiving great care. By working with individuals, families and groups and addressing these determinants of health, WECHC increases individual and group capacity for building healthy communities.

Further information can be found on the website.

 Southwestern Public Health Unit

Southwestern Public Health (SWPH) works with municipalities, community agencies, health and social services, schools, and other local partners to ensure the health of the residents of Oxford County, Elgin County, and the City of St. Thomas.

Their programs respond to public health emergencies; promote healthy lifestyles; help prevent injuries, illness and disease; and promote positive change and social conditions that improve health for everyone. SWPH deliver mandated programs under the Ontario Public Health Standards and are regulated by the Ontario Health Protection and Promotion Act.

SWPH is one of 34-public health units serving the province of Ontario. We are primarily funded by the Ministry of Health and local municipalities and we are governed by a Board of Health.
