OPP Update - Stay at Home Order

The OPP will not be performing random checks or traffic stops to enforce the Stay-at-Home Order. Under the updated orders, where a police officer or other provincial offences officer has reason to suspect that an individual may be participating in a gathering that is prohibited (by O. Reg.82/20 - Rules for Areas in Stage 1 - made under ROA,) and believes that it would be in the public interest to determine whether the individual is in compliance, the officer may require the individual to provide information required for the purpose of determining whether they are in compliance.

The OPP and its enforcement partners urge everyone to comply with all restrictions. Although voluntary compliance is always preferred, under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA), Re-Opening Ontario Act (ROA) and the federal Quarantine Act, there are consequences for individuals who choose to defy the emergency orders that are in force.
