Once the account is created, submit for a burn permit.
You will receive an email, that the permit has been created.
Wait to receive an email, that the permit has been approved.
We ask that all permits are submitted a minimum of 1 business day in advance of the planned burn.
Activate the permit, before burning, by one of the methods listed on the new burn permit form.
Additional Info:
There are restricted areas in Dutton, Wallacetown, Iona, and Iona Station where burn permits generally won’t be issued, however if the property backs onto an open field, a permit may still be approved if appropriate.
Following the burn permit process as outlined greatly reduces the chance that the fire department will be dispatched for a burn complaint.
Smoke from any fire, including backyard campfires, not requiring a permit, must not cause a nuisance with any neighbours, or the fire may be extinguished in the event of a burn complaint.
Changes in risk level or burn bans will be communicated on the burn permit website.
The Open Air Burning bylaw can be reviewed on the burn permit website.
Residents may add multiple addresses to their account.
Permits are valid for 4 weeks, and can be used multiple times, however the permit needs to be activated each time prior to burning.
