The Municipality undertakes construction and design projects for infrastructure improvements throughout Dutton Dunwich. Prior to the start of a project, the municipality locates all underground infrastructure in the project area. Locates are required anytime you dig on or near a property, as underground cables and wires are just below the surface. If you are planning on digging, be sure to request a locate from Ontario 1 Call. Phone: 1-800-400-2255 Submit a request through the Ontario 1 Call web portal. Ontario Law requires all excavators to contact Ontario 1 Call. The Municipality cannot accept locate requests from individuals or contractors, Ontario law requires that the excavator contact Ontario 1 Call directly. The Municipality will then be contacted to locate their services including sewers and watermains. Our staff marks waterlines with blue markings and sewers with green markings. If you see locates taking place, they could be for municipal projects, but are usually for telephone, cable, and gas companies or private property owners. The majority of these locates are for minor projects with minimal disruptions. If the locates are related to a major municipal reconstruction project, the property owner will receive a letter with details about the work.
